Each PF database has a copy of the hierarchy. The hierarchy contains the security descriptor of the folder, and changes to the security descriptor on one copy of the hierarchy will replicate to all the other copies.

You need to specify a server just to tell the script which copy to use to make the changes. Once those changes are made, they will replicate to the other servers, typically within 15 minutes.

Hey Bill why do i need to specify the server? I have mutiple copies of PF running accross different MBX servers. WIll doing this on just one server handle them all, or do i need to run this on each server? Thanks!

Hi all,

I installed today the Exfolder+SP1 and later on an Exch 2010 SP1 but i receive this messge when i try to connect to a mailbox :

"Method not found: 'Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ExchangePrincipal Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ExchangePrincipal.FromLegacyDN(System.String, Boolean)'"

Thanks a lot for that Bill..Actually the issue is something like this, we have a public folder and its non mail enable and now we found out that this public folder database is grown massively in size. So we want to archive some older emails to a pst file and save it on a network location. Just like how we do for a mailbox. Not sure how it works for public folder. I would really appreciate if you have any ideas or suggestions on this?

Avi, it depends on what you mean by 'archive'. You can certainly drag and drop emails into the folder. Since it's not mail-enabled, you just have to have some way of getting the messages into the folder that doesn't involve emailing them.

Is there a way to call the "clear permissions" bit through scripting (i.e. PowerShell).

We have a recurring problem in a hosted environment and would love to automate this!
