The hierarchy contains the security descriptor of the folder, and changes to the security descriptor on one copy of the hierarchy will replicate to all the other copies.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You need to specify a server just to tell the script which copy to use to make the changes. Once those changes are made, they will replicate to the other servers, typically within 15 minutes.&lt;/p&gt;

So we want to archive some older emails to a pst file and save it on a network location. Just like how we do for a mailbox. Not sure how it works for public folder. I would really appreciate if you have any ideas or suggestions on this?&lt;/p&gt;

You can certainly drag and drop emails into the folder. Since it&amp;#39;s not mail-enabled, you just have to have some way of getting the messages into the folder that doesn&amp;#39;t involve emailing them.&lt;/p&gt;
