About AuthorMPs and Steve Wilson

My name is Steve Wilson and I work as a program manager at Microsoft in Redmond, WA.  Since the first release of System Center Operations Manager back in 2007 I have been providing guidance and samples on MP authoring with a major focus of understanding the raw XML MP format and building in XML.  Until I started this blog this was available on www.authormps.com which you might have been familiar with but I have recently decomissioned this site and moved to this blog format.  Much of my career at Microsoft has been spent working with the SCOM and MOM product set.  I started in Microsoft Consulting Services in the UK and moved to Redmond in 2004.  Prior to Microsoft I worked at both Computer Associates and BMC Software in a consultancy role on a variety of enterprise management products.

I have spent two different periods working on the SCOM team in Redmond on various features ranging from the MP schema to the UI and also focusing on some incubation efforts in the team.  I have also worked in online services focusing on manageability and user experience.  Currently I work within Windows Server and as a result I am not focused on the SCOM product in my main role.  However, I still work internally to help my team and others build management packs and I will continue to share my experiences and best practices on this blog.  Also as the next release of SCOM enters the market there are some new possibilities with Management Packs that I will do some articles on mainly from the context of my team trying to leverage them.
