&lt;p&gt;It appears that there are 2 missing points in this post, in my tests.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1. Service Pack requirements is not must.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. Upgrading from Server Core to Full and vice-versa is not possible.&lt;/p&gt;
