We have discovered that Internet Explorer 8 *always* sends a TCP RESET in response to the SSL3 Closure Alert. It is the only browser to behave this way, and it can produce ugly results. Why Microsoft chose this approach is unknown, but demonstrates that MS has little respect for the rest of the networking world.

Any update regarding the IE cumulative update you mention at the end of the article?

Also, this issue seems to be the same as the one reported in kb 305217 ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305217/en-us ), for which a fix was issued in 2003 as q305217 (http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2d7b2f19-0d79-43e1-9b0b-671c7e5e33d8&displaylang=en).

How does this previous fix relate to the issue described in this post?

It sounds as though you may have a misbehaving add-on. If the problem only occurs with specific sites, then that is the most likely possibility. However it would be best to open a support incident with Microsoft Product Support to get your issue worked on.

I have Internet Explorer 7 with all updates and still continue to get error messages which shut down the internet. I have tried all kinds of fixes but nothing works. Does anyone have the solution?
