Dear Team:

I've been having trouble with IE7 when I have several windows and I try to close one of them, suddenly it closes all and says that there is an error and gives options of either close or restart Explorer. Can you help me with this issue?

Unhandled Exceptions from managed code are handled differently, therefore all these descriptions will not work. The postmortem behaviour for managed applications is defined in the registry under

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework]. There you have to set DbgManagedDebugger to the debugger of your choice e.g. "ntsd.exe -pv -p %d -c \".dump /f /u c:\dump.dmp;.kill;q\"". To suppress the error dialog DbgJITDebugLaunchSetting has to be set to 0x00000002.

Mahe - If Dr Watson is not capturing the dump file, then double-check the Debugger value in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug registry key. As an alternative, you can use the Debug Diagnostic Toolkit that is referenced in this post to monitor whichever process you need to.

Hi,

Dr.Watson is not able to caputre the application errors from our software. I don't see any dump/log file.

I've used this article to configure the dr. watson. Here is the application error i'm referring to ...

Application pop up - "Application Error : The instruction at "0x7c168f1d" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read""

Can you please guess what could've gone wrong in this case. Thanks in advance, sir.

my laptop keeps crash dumping for some reason it does it 3 to 4 times a day and its getting beyond a joke

does any1 that can shed some light as to why it does it? it doesnt get prompted to crash dump it does it on its own. any help will be greatly appreciated. any answers please e-mail me dragon.1985@hotmail.co.uk
