That's true! The DSSITE.MSC (open via the Run command or by adding it in MMC) allows you to select an alternative domain controller or LDS instance.

For prior versions (such as ADAM, which there is plenty of in use out there still) this may work as well as long as you do not need to use IP and/or port number to specify. This sadly is not an option if at all if you have an older version of ADAM installed on a non-Server version of Windows.

An additional observation is that if you are relying on KCC to take care of your inter site topology it's possible that if you specify your bridgehead the KCC may decide that is not the best option in its opinion. Just something to keep in mind.

I have this recollection that the dssites MMC was upgraded in LH to support configuring repl topologies for ADAM/LDS.

I know you have to add a couple custom things to LDS for ADUC to work against it but I thought dssites was explicitly supported.
