Microsoft's official enterprise support blog for AD DS and more
Hey all, Ned here again. After a few months of training room huffing, airline food loathing, and PowerPoint shilling, I’m back in Charlotte. I’ve got a backlog of legacy product posts to share from colleagues, and with Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 nigh, more new goo coming your way from me and Mike. And if I can’t come up with a halfway-decent Mail Sack after nearly two months, I’ll eat my own pants – expect that Friday. The blog post, I mean; not trouser consumption.
See you soon,
Ned “In case you’re wondering, the Dutch are like the Yankees of Korfbal, and it still rains in England” Pyle
Welcome back, sir!
Welcome back Ned, I'm awaiting some serious blog posts now. The more, the better.
It's nice to see you back again :-)
I'm looking forward the next FMS
Welcome back, Ned!
Alright now that the pleasantries are out of the way, down to the hard-ball questions: What happened to the old blog design? I'm imagining that someone at Microsoft instructed everyone to use a new Metro-like template in preparation for Windows 8 -- but did they also put a kibosh on any amount of color or individuality to the blogs? The old design looked great.
Hi all, good to be back.
The old blog design changed to this new Metro style as part of the overall strategy for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. Since AskDS is in the top 10 for blogs within the company, the price of our success is absorption into the Server and Tools blogging organization. With that new "look", I can't change the overall blog style and art much anymore: it's all locked down. So rest in peace wacky banner art I made in Visio.
I was, TBH, as surprised as anyone when this happened. I had gotten some emails but was neck deep in Win8 and travelling, so I never saw them until a day or so before we switched over. Not that it would have mattered, but at least could have given you all some warning. :)
Anyways, there you have it - the byzantine inner workings of Microsoft marketing and branding. I will continue my guerrilla warfare-style posting that you can trust to be free of massage or spin. We have standard of business conduct rules (www.microsoft.com/.../default.aspx), with some specifics that I always call out when someone suggests I do otherwise:
• Integrity and honesty
• Passion for customers, partners, and technology
• Self-critical, questioning, and committed to personal excellence and self-improvement
Anyone says otherwise and I tell them to jog on...
Welcome back Ned! No pitstop at Comic-Con this year. Your manager would have approved that :)
It tears me apart that I did not get to see the Firefly 10 year reunion panel. I stalk Nathan Fillion.
Two things about Comic-Con.
1. there is an hour or so of the Firefly reunion posted online
2. There are pictures of Matt Smith (the current Doctor) and Nathan Fillion hanging out
