Microsoft's official enterprise support blog for AD DS and more
On April 9, 1999 the first Windows 2000 Active Directory domain went online in Redmond Washington. Microsoft’s first truly enterprise operating system had been born.
After 11 years and countless follow-up OS versions, Windows 2000 retired today and it is no longer supported. It will live on only in our memories… and as a steel space goat, hell bent on revenge.
If you still have Windows 2000 in your environment and just felt your left arm go numb while reading this, you might want to visit the Win2000 migration solution center: http://support.microsoft.com/win2000.
- Ned “what do I do with this old MCSE certification now?” Pyle
Sort of bitter sweet as most of us that read this blog cut our teeth on AD with Windows 2000...but the time has long come to move on. I think it will be much more dramatic once 2003 is retired as I still see a ton of 2003 boxes (not nearly as many 2000 boxes anymore).
I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the NT MCSE. Let's kill/retire those certs too :)
