Ned here again. The Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) have been released for Win7 RC. Grab them from:

Here are the installation requirements:
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC can be installed on computers that are running the Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate editions of Windows 7 RC.
Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC runs on both x86- and x64-based editions of Windows 7 RC, and can be used to manage roles and features that are running on either the Server Core or full installation options of the x64-based Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system. Remote management is also supported for some roles and features that run on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2003.
Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC should not be installed on a computer that is running the Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack or Windows 2000 Server® Administration Tools Pack. Remove all versions of Administration Tools Pack or Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows Vista SP1 from the computer before you install Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC.
Only one copy at a time of Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC can be installed on a computer. Before you install a new package, remove any existing copies of Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC. This includes any copies that are in different languages.
And as if you didn't already know, Client and Server OS RC's are out and available to all...

Hi,
I am able to reproduce the GPMC issue with the Settings tab being active (the use of admin or standard did not matter in my repro). Also you will find that the "T" key will cause a refresh to happen, as if you were hitting "F5".
With these details I was able to find that one of customers did finally call in on this and get it explored. We're looking into whether or not it rates a fix in this version, since the workaround is pretty easy (just move away from the Settings tab; click any other tab).
If there are other scenarios where you can get the backpsace to not work, let me know with precise repro steps. PSR.EXE is your friend here - as you can see, a lot of assumptions get put down here that are not always relevant to the repro.

I can't actually search AD, as the search buttons don't show up at all.
This happens for me every time I attempt it if I do the following scenario:
Right-click GPMC>Run as another user (my DA account)
From there, if I edit a policy/create a new policy and go to
User Configuration>Preferences>Control Panel Settings. From there, if I attempt to go to any of the sub-options and do item-level targeting, I can't actually perform the AD search, because those buttons don't show up on the form.
They do show up if I log into a DC as my DA account and do it from there. I try not to do things from the DC itself, though.

I've got a printer deployment GPO that has been absolute HELL without those buttons. Thank you so much.
I have the problem of some keys not working in ADUC and GPMC consoles.
I have Win 7 Pro x64 in French RTM with RSAT RTM too.
The problem occurs in default and custom MMC.
When the problem occurs, I need to close the MMC and open it again and the problem's gone.
I've not been able to find the way to reproduce it. When it occur, Backspace, arrows, End, Home keys do not work. In GPMC, it occurs frequently when I try to rename a GPO. In ADUC, it occurs frequently when creating objects. These two consoles are included in my custom MMC.
It's easy to solve it be closing and re-opening the MMC, but pretty anoying.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to find info about this bug anywhere else this blog post...
Is there a fix on its way for this ?

I'm afraid that until someone here opens a Premier case and files a DCR through their TAM, it will not be fixed. Letting us all know the extent of the issue is good, but it does not start the ball rolling.
Weird GPMC behaviour 110072383316937
I have the weird issue regularly as well, and one of the other admins here also notices it. I'm in GPMC most often of any of us. Backspace and arrow keys won't work, renaming a group policy won't work - all typing is inhibited, and pressing T will exit rename/edit mode entirely. I CAN put the new name in notepad, copy it, go into rename mode on GPMC, and paste the new name. This is on Win7x64, fully patched to current.

Management Console 3.0 Version 5.1 (Build 7600)
UAC is off. Typical invocation pattern is:
Explorer/localadmin only->runas CMD/domain admin->gpmc.msc
