One note that isn&amp;#39;t here, or in the linked KB968912 article, this patch appears to update server 2008 std to allow it to accept server 2008 r2 kms activation keys. It doesn&amp;#39;t simply patch the current 2008 std install to allow it to activate r2 and win7 boxes, as this article and the KB article seem to imply. After you install this patch you HAVE to update your server 2008 std KMS activation key to an r2 KMS activation key (e.g. - `slmgr -ipk &amp;lt;R2_activation_key&amp;gt;; slmgr -ato`). Works like a charm after that.&lt;/p&gt;
