I really really want to know how to add an referral entry on the AD server. I found many articles in the Internet, most of them said like this "Active Directory Domain Services maintain referral data in crossRef objects stored in the partitions container (crossRefContainer) in the configuration container " . This is no use for me.

Could you please give a step-by-step guide to help me to know how to add an referral entry on the AD server?

http://blogs.msdn.com/openspecification/ is also a good source for examples and explanations of some of the content in those docs. Else as they are very developer orientated docs they are hard to read.

I also recommend some of the videos on channel9 where the PM and distinguished engineers comment on the docs. The videos are available at http://channel9.msdn.com/tags/Windows+Protocols/.

Some of the content includes changes in security for W7/R2, SMB, PKI etc.
