Portals and Collaboration with the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Train the Trainer: January 25^th – 26th

Special in-depth technical Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 training. The objective of this training is to train at least 1 or 2 Microsoft Certified Trainers for each subsidiary in EMEA to make sure they can redeliver appropriate MOSS training in their own regions. Click here to register.

OBJECTIVE: this course is intended primarily for Trainers and IT Professionals who predominantly work with Microsoft^® Windows^® and Microsoft Office system technologies, in particular, Microsoft Office SharePoint technologies (SharePoint Services v3 and/or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007).

The objective of this course is to guide attendees through training material that will enable them to redeliver the course.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Understand the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 architecture.
Utilize the Content Management and Portal fundamentals in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Understand how SharePoint sites can be customized.

PREREQUISITES: attendees will get the most out of this workshop if they have the following prerequisites:

One or more years experience with Microsoft Office system technologies and competency with Windows Server operating systems.
One or more years of experience with SharePoint products and technologies is recommended.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Microsoft Certified Trainers. Trainers from Microsoft Certified Learning Centers specialized in SharePoint technologies and/or the Microsoft Office system in general.
Microsoft Certified Partners enrolled in the Information Worker Solutions Competency and in particular the Messaging and Collaboration Specialization: System integrators, Architects, Developers, Implementers, and Administrators.
Microsoft Certified Partners enrolled in the Advanced Infrastructure Competency and in particular the Exchange Migration and Deployment specialization.

FEES: 100% subsidized by Microsoft. However, delegates are responsible for booking and paying for their own travel and accommodation.

Delivery Language: All sessions will be presented in English.

Live Barcode - enter business cards straight into Outlook

How I love this... I was just looking at my stack of business cards I collected attending my week of conferences and thinking of typing them in vs. buying a business card scanner.

So the general idea of this Live application is that you print an image generated by the Live site with your contact details on your business card which your Windows Mobile device captures with it's digital camera... then all you have to do is import it into your Contacts - brilliant!

The SharePoint Opportunity for Partners...

I love this article from Fortune magazine – “How I Work: Bill Gates” – in which Bill describes how he uses SharePoint:

“…Being flooded with information doesn't mean we have the right information or that we're in touch with the right people. I deal with this by using SharePoint, a tool that creates websites for collaboration on specific projects. These sites contain plans, schedules, discussion boards, and other information, and they can be created by just about anyone in the company with a couple of clicks ... SharePoint puts me in touch with lots of people deep in the organization. It's like having a super-website that lets many people edit and discuss — far more than the standard practice of sending e-mails with enclosures. And it notifies you if anything comes up in an area you're interested in.”

Another recent quote from Bill is, “SharePoint will be for the server what [the] Office [suite] has been for the desktop.”

Huge SharePoint Opportunity

I'm really excited (some may say "super excited") about the opportunity that SharePoint represents for Partners. Not only for the scenarios that Bill describes above, but because SharePoint also provides a platform for deployment for other applications and services. This could range from a dashboard providing key performance indicators, using Business Scorecard Manager 2005 to linking into CRM to providing key project information as part of an Enterprise Project Management solution to hosting a real time communication solution. The list can go on to include Groove; security with Antigen; hosting; integration with line of business applications using BizTalk etc.
