Unfortunately this is not working for me: in the default configuration of Server 2008 "Microsoft RSA Schannel Cryptographic Provider" is not allowed for CEPEncryption. I changed it to the "Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0" (which is allowed for this template).

The certificates are fine, and installed in the right store. NDES is unable to start.

The eventlog reveals the following:

The Network Device Enrollment Service cannot retrieve one of its required certificates (0x80070057). The parameter is incorrect.

The Network Device Enrollment Service cannot be started (0x80004005). Unspecified error

Maybe someone can help me out here.
