Every so often, I’ll talk with a customer wanting to deploy a legal notice to their workstations using Group Policy. Sounds simple, right? Well, it is actually a little tricky to make the legal notice work correctly. Here is a solution

Deploying Legal Notices via Group Policy

Mike from the Active Directory Services Team has posted a good article about deploying Legal Notices

This has been awhile but... Is there a way to ad a decline button that would log the user off?

Unfortunately no. The user interface before user logon (the GINA and the credential provider in Vista and later) is static. We can only modify the text within the dialog.

I was able to get a new line for each paragraph but they were squished together and I was unable to get a blank line between the paragraphs.

I used the old white space trick from the dos days, it was fun hiding directories from the network admins because they thought they couldn't have a space in a dir name, but I digress....

To get the blank line between them make your text look like this, you CAN put carriage returns in the text, but any blank lines get filtered out....so don't leave them blank, put some "invisible text" on the lines you want blank as per below:

Paragraph1

<255>

Paragraph2

<255>

Paragraph3

Where <255> (a white space) is generated by pressing and holding ALT while entering 255 into the NUMERIC keypad. Pressing 255 won't work on the standard numeric keys. This will allow a blank line with no text in the text box.

However I have another question:

Is there a way to change the size of the dialog box? All of the text I want to display does not show with the original size of the dialog box. I can use the arrow key down to see the rest of the text although this is not (legally) acceptable for my employer.

So, is there any way to change the size of the dialog box to show more characters?

Thank you
