About me & my blog ...
Welcome to my blog!
My full name is M. Amir Haque and I go by Amir (pronounced as 'Aamer'). I have been working at Microsoft since Sep. of 2000. I work for ‘Enterprise Messaging’ group in Microsoft Services, which works with big enterprises (like Fortune 1000 companies) on the deployment & maintenance of their Exchange Server based messaging system. I specialize in ‘Exchange Client Connectivity', i.e. Outlook, Entourage, Outlook Web Access, Outlook Anywhere (previously known as ‘RPC over HTTP’) and other Exchange Mobility-related features like Exchange ActiveSync (server-side).
In my current role I work closely with Entourage product group in ‘Mac Business Unit’ (MacBU) at Microsoft. I have worked with Entourage since it started talking to Exchange Server with 10.1.4 Update for Entourage X, released on Aug. 4th, 2003. After that Entourage 2004 was released with built-in support for Exchange connectivity (based on WebDAV/HTTP). Office 2004 Service Pack 2 added even more Exchange related features to Entourage 2004. In Jan. 2008, Entourage 2008 was released in Universal binaries to support the new Intel based architecture of Mac OS X. I have posted 2 blogs on new features in Entourage 2008, one on common features for everyone using Entourage, other on Exchange related features.
In this blog I will mostly talk about how Entourage works in the ‘Exchange Client’ role when you connect to a mailbox on Exchange Server. I will post on how different features work in Entourage in relation to Exchange, how to properly utilize them to your advantage and their limitations. I will also discuss troubleshooting different issues and scenarios related to Entourage & Exchange.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Cheers!
